HASTA LA PRÓXIMA:

In the Meantime- Speak Up for the Arts!!!

THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!

Once again, Orchestra Miami's funding is in jeopardy, this time,
from Miami-Dade County.

As you know, we already lost $38,000 from the State of Florida- now our annual operating support grant from Miami-Dade County is at risk of being reduced by 12% or more. That's a $9,000 reduction, which could pays for our much needed and much valued Administrative Assistant!!!

(SHARE YOUR STORY ABOUT THE IMPACT THAT ORCHESTRA MIAMI HAS HAD ON YOUR LIFE & HOW VITAL LOCAL FUNDING IS)

Orchestra Miami is one of Miami’s most unique professional performing ensembles. Orchestra Miami’s mission is to connect communities and educate through music by bringing affordable, accessible, high-quality classical music experiences to Miami-Dade County. Orchestra Miami’s original and highly successful programs include the beloved annual free Beethoven on the Beach series, the pinnacle New Year’s Eve concert in Miami Beach which yields a very large, diverse, and highly appreciative audience, the Pinecrest Gardens Family Fun series which introduces children and their families to the arts, and its fascinating and informative Discover Miami Through Music concerts. Orchestra Miami’s high-quality programs reach literally thousands pf people each year, and to date we have introduced over 35,000 Miami-Dade County Public School students to classical music for free through its Carnegie Hall Link Up program and other education initiatives. Orchestra Miami consists of a select group of professional musicians, all permanent residents of South Florida, whose collective body is unparalleled in terms of excellence and experience. Led by Founder and Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi, Orchestra Miami is known for its high-quality artistry, imaginative programs that captivate new audiences, and its performances at a wide variety of diverse venues across Miami Dade County.

Local funding is vital to continue Orchestra Miami’s mission. The loss of this funding would force us to cancel programs, reduce staff, and limit our outreach efforts, directly affecting thousands of children, families, the elderly, and all those whose livelihoods are intertwined with our success. We urge you to restore the funding and support the arts, which are essential to our community's fabric.

Arts and culture in Miami-Dade County are vital to our community, our economy, our businesses, our schools, and tourism. Your crucial arts funding for the arts in Miami-Dade is an investment in the economic growth of our community.

Here are the economic impact facts: https://artsbizmiami.org/join/economic-impact/

With a 2.1 billion dollar impact and more than 32,000 jobs the arts mean business! The arts keep our neighborhoods vibrant, attract tourists and stimulate the economy with direct spending and audience spending. Every $1 the County invests in not-for-profit arts groups leverages $39 for our community from other private and public sources.

These proposed budget cuts would have had a devastating impact on Miami-Dade's cultural organizations and artists at a time when the arts community is facing inflation, lingering effects of the pandemic, a lack of affordable spaces in which to create art and a total elimination of State support. If passed, these cuts would negatively impact services to children and youth, seniors and people with disabilities. Many arts groups and artists collectives are small businesses that need your support.

Please restore the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs' grants budget!

Thank you for supporting the arts in the past, I hope we can continue to count on your support!
